Using God's Blessings to Bless Others…

Thanksgiving to God

2 Corinthians 9:11 – ‘You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.’

It’s worth reading through verses 6 – 12 of chapter 9 in 2 Corinthians. These words show that as we are generous, we are given more. And why? So that we can be generous again! As we do this, we are promoting a way of providing thanksgiving to God.

Being Generous is an Act of Thanksgiving to God

Being Generous is an Act of Thanksgiving to God

When we choose to bless others with our abundance, then we are thanking God for His provision. He provides us with so much more than we could ever need, so that on this earth we may be able to do His work! We can show His love by giving to those who are in need.

As wealthy Christians, we need to realise the reason for this wealth in our lives. If it is more than we need, then we must question how we can best make use of it. The above verse shows that God provides so much so that we can be generous! Make your giving to others, an act of thanksgiving to God! Get excited about being able to give. As you do, God will provide more opportunities to give! It’s such an exciting concept – as we make the effort to give, God provides more opportunities to do so!

And what’s more awesome is that this doesn’t stop at finances. As discussed before, we can give of our time, kind words, a listening ear, a smile, unused items at home. The list goes on! Don’t feel you are limited in your giving because you don’t earn as much as is possible. Recognise the other areas where you can give and bless others. This too, is an act of thanksgiving to God.

Financial tip – in any mortgage, make your repayments fortnightly rather than monthly. There are 26 fortnights in a year and only 12 months, you will end up paying off equivalent to 13 months in a year if you pay fortnightly and save a lot more on interest.

Supply what you Need

2 Corinthians 8:14 – ‘At the present time, your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality.’

This verse in Corinthians talked about the church working together. They all had needs but they also all had finances and possessions. For those who had much – it was shared with those who were lacking. And in time those who had given were later in a position of being in need and the tables were turned. Those who were provided for at first were able to provide for in the future.

Who will Supply what you Need?

Who will Supply what you Need?

Do not resent giving to those in need. You never know what God has in store for their future. It is possible that they may always be lacking – perhaps there is a lesson they need to learn here. Or maybe they just needed a hand at a low point in their lives. As they were helped by God’s loving children, they were able to grow stronger and develop skills.

Supply what you Need

The gentle nurturing and encouragement emboldened them to step out and make a way for themselves in society. Their great skill at a trade or their burning idea for a new product grew and made them successful. In time they were earning so much more than you were ever able to give. And the result? The generosity that was shown to them, is able to be reciprocated tenfold! They are motivated to give like they were given to – and then some!

As you give to others what they need, don’t be surprised if in the future they are able to supply what you need. Sometimes this is how God works. It keeps us humble and is a great encouragement to give!

Wealth tip – get rid of unnecessary clutter: remove anything you haven’t made use of in 12 months and bless someone else who may be able to utilise it, by giving it away!
