Proverbs 13:4 – ‘The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.’
God’s word often relates to a sluggard – someone of a slothful nature. They are lazy; they are idle with their time. They desire a lot, but are not willing to be proactive. So they crave things, but they don’t get what they want.
Someone who is diligent we also know is hard-working, thorough, attentive and conscientious. It is this person who finds that their desires are fully satisfied.
Another word for diligent is careful. I am of the view that if we are careful to find our desires in God, then when we action these desires with diligence, then will we see them come to fruition!
It is as we strive to achieve goals that Christ has placed on our hearts, that we will see the fruits of our labour. It is wasted if we choose to be diligent with goals and ideas that go against God’s word.
Many evil things in this world are successful in the eyes of the world. People who promote prejudice and hate may be wealthy. Some rob, cheat and steal without getting caught.
Desires of the Diligent
As wealthy Christians, we need to make sure our desires are in line with God. Then we need to be diligent to see results. Not only will we see results, we will find our desires fully satisfied. If that is the case, then why not set some audacious goals? Make sure God is guiding you, but don’t be afraid to dream big – and then act big!
Wealth tip – some annual bills like car registrations and home insurance are cheaper to pay in full, rather than in smaller more frequent amounts. Save in anticipation of these bills – they shouldn’t be a surprise! In doing so, you’ll save yourself money over the longer term to invest elsewhere.
