Deuteronomy 8:17 – 18 – ‘You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, ad so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today.’

God gives wealth. It is so easy for us to look at what we may have accumulated on this Earth and credit ourselves. After all, we worked hard, saved diligently and invested wisely. Surely that was all of our own doing!

God gives wealth. Don't forget this!

God gives wealth. Don’t forget this!

God gives wealth. God gives us skills. God gives us opportunities. God gives us wealth. Yes we have to act, yes we have to hone skills; yes we have to work. But at the end of the day, it is through working in obedience to God’s direction and provision that we are blessed to earn and receive wealth.

Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that your good fortune has come by your own means. Don’t believe that it has nothing to do with God and everything to do with your own capabilities. God made you as you are, so any capabilities you have are to His credit. Any wealth that you acquire should be used for His glory.

Even if God blesses us with skills, opportunities and wealth, this doesn’t mean we should be idle. It is our duty to protect and develop what He has blessed us with. Work to improve your skills – and add to them! Learn to recognise opportunities and to jump on them. Save and invest your wealth in places where it is likely to make the best impact for God’s kingdom. Above all, don’t forget: God gives wealth.

Financial tip – research residual income options; there are many avenues where you can put in the work once, but gain the rewards many times over.
