Mark 1: 17 – ‘”Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” At once they left their nets and followed him.’
There are two words in particular in the above verse that stand out to me: at once. Jesus gave an order and declared it would be followed with a particular outcome. Jesus expected obedience to God. God expects no less of us today.
Do you display obedience to God? Do respond at once to promptings from Him? Or is it too easy to say:
- I’m not certain, I’ll wait until God further confirms what He wants me to do
- I’m really busy right now, perhaps tomorrow
- I’m not sure I want to, maybe it’s ok if I wait awhile
- That seems silly or I’ll feel stupid, I don’t know…
Whatever the reason, not acting in obedience is actually being disobedient to God. If we seek to be wealthy, then we need to learn to be obedient to promptings from God.
Why would He bless us with wealth if we weren’t going to act in accordance with His wishes? We need to practice obedience to God in all areas of our life, including our finances.
Get close to God through His word and prayer and practice being obedient when He prompts you to do something.
Wealth tip – get rid of unnecessary clutter: remove anything you haven’t made use of in 12 months and bless someone else who may be able to utilise it, by giving it away!
