Proverbs 14: 23 – 24 – ‘All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. The wealth of the wise is their crown, but the folly of fools yields folly.’
What do you work for? What is a profit? Many see profit only as a financial gain. This is one meaning of the word. A profit can be something that is:
- an advantage to you
- something that is earned
- something that is of benefit to you
Perhaps you work because it results in income for you to live on. Perhaps you work because you enjoy what you do. Perhaps you work because the end result is satisfying. All of these reasons result in you profiting from doing the work.
God’s word indicates that hard work results in profit. Whatever the result is for you and for whatever reason you work, don’t be ashamed to receive profit! You may benefit from knowing that your family is warm and fed because you work. As wealthy Christians, we should be keen to work hard.
There is no point in complaining about your lot in life and then refusing to work for better circumstances. Indeed, perhaps the fool is poor because all the energy they should be investing in hard work is instead put into complaining! Or daydreaming. Do not merely talk about what you want to do, would like to do, plan to achieve. This will surely lead to none of them being achieved and you going hungry.
It is a wise person who works hard, establishes wealth and invests this. The wealthy Christian works hard and invests their profit in themselves and others.
Wealth tip – consider only borrowing money to purchase assets that will generate income for you, not for products that will decrease in value over time.
