Jeremiah 17:11 – ‘Like a partridge that hatches eggs it did not lay is the man who gains riches by unjust means. When his life is half gone, they will desert him, and in the end he will prove to be a fool.’
As Christians, we should already know that money gained incorrectly is wrong. The Bible warns against those who gain riches by unjust means. On top of it being wrong, this verse in Jeremiah indicates that the end result for such a person is not good! The money won’t last and the person in question will find themselves proven a fool.
Riches by Unjust Means
If you aspire to have wealth in your Christian life, be sure to do it in a way that show’s God’s hand in your life. Earn the money. Save and invest it. Wealth is generally generated in small amounts, over time. It needs to be acquired in a truthful manner. If you seek God’s guidance on how best to earn, save and invest your money, I believe He will bless you for this. Do not be tempted to gain riches by unjust means.
Likewise, if you desire to be wealthy, check your heart about why you desire this. It is not enough to want to be rich because you desire to have abundance. God’s word already indicates He desires this for us, too! But it also indicates that those who have more than enough are obligated to provide for those who don’t.
Be sure to acquire your wealth in a truthful manner. And as you find yourself with more than you need, look for opportunities to bless others.
Financial tip – for items that you utilise on a regular basis, buy these in bulk wherever possible. You will save on your purchase and know you have that product for a long time to come.
