Psalm 112: 1 – 3 – ‘Praise the Lord. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who finds great delight in his commands. His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.’
There is consistently a link in God’s word between the person who fears and loves the Lord and one who has wealth and riches. When looking at synonyms for these two words, there is a common thread – resources, treasures, assets, materials, possessions.
For the person who puts their trust in God, they will be given so much more than just a relationship with Him. God wants to bless his children. He wants them to have more than they need.
Do you wish for abundance for your children? Why? Is it so they can have more than enough? So they don’t have to feel hunger or the cold? Or perhaps more than this, you want them to experience abundance so that they can learn to appreciate what they have and give to those in need.
Wealth and Riches
As wealthy Christians, I believe it is our responsibility to teach our children about wealth and riches. We should teach them how to invest, how to be frugal and how to recognise and bless those in need. If we teach them these things on top of a love for God, then they are on the path to also having wealth and riches in their house as they grow into adults and establish a family of their own. With these wealth and riches, they will then be armed to invest wisely and teach their children about God and money.
Wealth tip – consider splitting your budget into the areas of tithes/offerings, living expenses and saving.
