Psalm 49:16 – 17 – ‘Do not be overawed when a man grows rich, when the splendour of his house increases; for he will take nothing with him when he dies, his splendor will not descend with him.’
Our life on this earth is but a moment when compared with an eternity with Christ. Although it is a short time, it is a time in which we can make a great impact for the Lord. In fact, our impact has eternal consequences. The verses above indicate that when he dies (or any person for that matter), he (or she) cannot take their earthly wealth with them.
Can we take anything with us when we die? Yes – our relationship with God. This is the one thing that will follow us after our earthly bodies are finished on this earth. A relationship with God and an eternal future is also something that we can help others to acquire whilst on this earth.
God’s word indicates that after our life on this earth, we will be judged for what we did – or didn’t – do. So whilst on this earth, we should endeavour to use our wealth to benefit others and God’s kingdom. Remember a person will take nothing with him when he dies. However, riches acquired on this earth can do so much!
When he Dies
It is an incredible thing to be gifted with wealth on this earth. But we are warned to not get caught up in the wealth itself. Instead, use your energy to make the wealth work for the better of everyone that you can! Be comfortable knowing that when you pass on, your wealth wasn’t stored up not to be used, but instead had a great impact on others.
Financial tip – set up a savings account and have any spare funds sitting in here; make the decision to save any amount on a weekly basis, even if it’s a dollar a day. Money in savings is working for you.
