1 Timothy 6:17 – 18 – ‘Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.’

There is so much in these two verses! We already know that some people in this world are rich, whilst others are lacking. God’s word indicates that for those who are blessed to be wealthy, they shouldn’t put their confidence in this. However, they should be rich in good deeds. And perhaps this is easier to do, with wealth.

God's Word says to be Rich in Good Deeds

God’s Word says to be Rich in Good Deeds

It is easy for us to attribute our wealth to ourselves. It was our hard work that earned the money. Because of our smart investing, we were able to build our wealth further. It was our foresight to put a particular amount of money into a certain savings account or on a particular stock or bond. Wrong! God directs us. He allows us to earn money and provides us with knowledge to be able to invest wisely and be a good steward of what He has blessed us with.

Even if we have wealth, there is no guarantee of it being around tomorrow – no matter how wisely we invest. Put your hope in God. After all, He can rebuild your wealth if it tumbles. But more importantly, He’s given all of us the opportunity for everlasting life – real treasure – if only we accept it.

Be Rich in Good Deeds

It is God who provides for us that which we need – and more! We can bless Him by blessing others as much as possible. Look for opportunities to be rich in good deeds and follow through.
